Is Loacally really free?

Free for customers, yes, genuinely. There's no booking fee, and you pay the local directly for the work. Providers pay a small monthly fee to list on Loacally, which keeps the platform running without us taking a cut of any job or adding anything at checkout.

That keeps our incentives simple: help you find the right local nearby, and nothing else.

How are locals vetted?

We check the necessary provider details, including identity and business information, before a local can take bookings. The verified tick shows when those checks are complete.

It's a proportionate level of vetting for where we are now, and we're clear about what each “Verified” tick covers. We'll keep strengthening it as we grow.

Why is payment off the platform?

Because we'd rather get the rest of the experience right first. The price you see on Loacally is the price you'll pay the local directly, by their preferred method. We don't hold any money, charge any processing fees, or add anything on top.

The trade-off is that there's no built-in payment protection at this stage. We're upfront about that, and we lean on reviews and a clear dispute path to keep standards high.

What if I need to cancel a visit?

You can cancel or reschedule from your visit confirmation up to the local's stated cancellation window, usually 24 hours before. We'll let them know and they'll free up the slot for someone else.

Last-minute changes happen, especially for emergencies, and most locals are happy to accommodate. Drop them a message inside the visit thread, the whole conversation stays in one place.

Where do you operate?

London only for now, across all 32 boroughs. We deliberately started narrow so we could build genuine local density, the kind where you'll consistently find someone in the next street rather than 40 minutes away.

Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds are next on the roadmap. If you'd like Loacally in your city, let us know and we'll prioritise based on demand.
